  James E.G. Larson was born in Latvia (Letland) in 1935 with af danish father and a russian mother, whose parents had fled from Russia in 1917. In 1939 James family fled to America just befor the war began. James Larson graduated high school in 1953 in Tennessee, and Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1957. He enlisted the United States Army in 1958 and served a three year tour with the Counterintelligence Corps in the United States and in Europe until 1961.
